If you guys have been following me on Instagram, then you probably know I’ve been traveling quite a bit lately. In fact, I’m writing you guys this from the Dominican Republic right now! I recently traveled to Vegas, NYC, France and now here and lets just say packing has become second nature to me. I will admit, I never used to be like this and packing still gives me a bit of anxiety which is why I wanted to share 5 easy packing tips I have found through experience that have helped me pack and travel more efficiently.
PLAN AHEAD
What I have found that has helped me most in traveling is to only bring items that have about an 80-90% chance of being used. I absolutely HATE packing more items than I need so I always make it a thing to see how much better I can get with my packing. I usually like to lay out everything that I think I want to bring on my bed and take a GOOD look. In doing this, sometimes I’ll see I have laid out 3 tops that look almost identical and realize I only need one. Trust me, it HELPS!
PACK SMART
When I am going away, I always try to choose clothing that packs thin, if that makes sense. I avoid any bulky items/jackets that will take up the majority of space in my suitcase because it just doesn’t make sense. I’ll also pack scarves that can act as accessories while also giving warmth since they don’t take up much room.
PICK VERSATILE JEWELRY/ACCESSORIES
Here is one thing I had to learn the hard way. Since I’m a big jewelry gal, I used to always want to bring every item with me on my travels and it just got SO difficult (and took up way too much room). Then, when I would get to my destination I’d only use 1/3 of the items I brought so it was a total waste. Now, I literally stick with the basics. A pair of my favorite studs, one watch and bracelets that can go with it. Lately I’ve been on high rotation with my CLUSE watches since I love the different variations they have and because of the fact that they now have bracelets that match perfectly with their watches. I’ve been wearing them a ton in my blog posts and also on all my trips since a good watch/bracelet combo instantly adds that elegance to ANY outfit. The watch I’m wearing in today’s post is this one (and I wear it ALL the time) and the bracelets I have paired with it are available here and here!
THINK WRINKLE FRIENDLY
When choosing fabrics to take with you, try picking items that are as wrinkle-resistant as possible. If you get to your destination and some of your clothes really did get wrinkled just try this trick that my friend taught me on my last trip to France: Hang the item in the bathroom while you take a shower and let the steam work out the wrinkles. Works every time.
PACK FOR COMPATIBILITY
Let go of the idea that you have to take a different outfit for each day. What I do now is just take versatile and interchangeable pieces with me. For example, on this trip to the Dominican Republic I brought 2 pairs of shorts and leggings and about8 different tops that I could wear with them. It really helps with packing lighter and making your travel life WAY easier.
Hope you guys enjoyed and make sure to follow along my travel adventures these next couple weeks!
