Wearing flared jeans probably reminds you of being stuck in the 70’s but they are kind of making a comeback this year too. For years now we’ve been stuck on the skinny jeans and although I LOVE a skinny jean more than anything, sometimes it is nice to switch it up. This style should be done right so here are a few of my best pointer tips on how to wear flared jeans the right way:
MAKE SURE THE LENGTH IS JUST RIGHT
Personally, I love a flared look that covers almost all of your shoe, there’s something to me than just looks really cool and effortless about it. But if you prefer to show a big more shoe, then hem them just right so they fit the perfect spot of your sandals you will choose to wear with them. Wearing flares with heels of any kind will make your legs look a mile long. Just keep in mind if the hem is too long you’ll look sloppy, if the hem is too short you’ll look funny.
EMBRACE THE HIGH WAIST
High waisted anything is my jam – I cannot even stand low cut jeans anymore, especially when it comes to flares. The high waisted style in my opinion suits BEST with flared jeans. It will flatter your figure by adding a bit of structure while flaunting those wide ends.
WEAR THE RIGHT SHOE
Getting the shoe right is also a part of wearing the flare jeans right. Flare jeans were originally meant to be worn with high heels to make your legs look like they can go on and on. High-heels or wedges definitely bring balance to the bottoms. Unless you have legs for days I say stay away from flats, sandals or sneakers.
TRY OTHER COLORS
Try flared jeans in other colors and prints. I actually fell in love with this off-white flared denim which works perfect with a lot of tops and is great for the Spring/Summer months.
PICK THE RIGHT FIT
Don’t invest in flares that overwhelm your legs. They should be fitted all the way down to the knee and then flare out slowly until the widest part is at the bottom.
KEEP IT SIMPLE
Because flared jeans are a statement on their own, try not to add too many complicated elements. I like to keep it simple — flared jeans, a good blouse and that’s it. When you add too much to the look it really comes off as too much and that’s definitely not what you want.
