Oh goodness. Heading back to work and LIFE after your long holiday break can be SUCH a task, don’t you agree?! No matter how much you love your job, getting back into the groove of things after a vacation can be quite challenging, especially if it was an extended holida. Here are my 5 Tips To Getting Back in the Groove After the Holidays:
Get Your Health in Check
It’s no surprise, during the holidays we indulge,.. a lot. I don’t know about you guys but when I eat bad, I’m more tired, it slows me down, I don’t feel as good and I’m not as motivated. But hey, don’t be mad at yourself, the holidays IS a time to indulge and enjoy!! With the new year brings you a clean slate of the year and your most important task is getting back on track. Get your nutrition in order with some healthy foods, fresh juices, and fresh vegetables. Then get yourself to bed early, work out and you’ll be back to your old self in no time.
Go Back to a Job You Love
Ok let’s be honest, the first week of January is a shit show and that’s just for everyone. BUT, if the thought of going back to work makes you break out in hives or you feel you’re about to have a severe meltdown, you might have a bigger problem. Use your holiday vacation as time to do soul searching and ask yourself if you are happy with what you are doing. What kind of work do you really want to spend your life doing? If you need a change, go for it. Happiness is always key.
Plan Another Vacation
The holidays are so fun that when you get back to work it can feel dreadful. Sometimes its good to have your mind wander a little and have something to look forward to. So plan ahead and get something on the books with your friends – it will help the time pass!
Set Goals
One of my favorite thing to do in the New Year is to create short term goals for what I want to accomplish this year and potentially set a reward for when I reach them. Short-term goals not only help you organize better, but they also help you figure out what to prioritize. Plus, the rewards waiting for you once you accomplish goals help you get and stay MOTIVATED!
Strive for a Work-Life Balance
Think about it — you love vacations because you get to socialize with your loved ones, or you get to see your friends and do cool stuff together. Going back to work does not mean you cannot do those things again. Make time to go out with some friends. Try not to get bored. Do new stuff. You just have to make time for it and you will feel SO much better!
