Accessories First - LOVE, OLIA

A lot of people ask me how and where I get the inspiration for my outfits. They wonder how the outfits come together, and if I have any tips to give out. Is it the shoes, the clothes or the accessories that come first?

Although my style changes all the time and I find inspiration for my outfits in many different places, I wanted to talk about a topic that I actually have not covered in the past—dressing your accessories FIRST! A lot of people never think to do this first, but it can be quite the game changer, if you ask me.

Many times, I find certain accessories—whether it be scarves, clutches, bags or hats (like the above items from Target)—that I just LOVE so much that I know they will be incorporated into my next outfit. I have no idea what the next outfit will look like, but one thing is certain: Those particular accessories will be a part of it. Sometimes starting with accessories can actually aid in the outfit process and help streamline your look. It can be something that really narrows down your closet a lot since the accessories you pick for an outfit typically stay within either a theme, color or feel.

Here is another way to style an outfit based on accessories first:

Think about anything as an accessory—even your lipstick or a phone case! These can all help make dressing a little more fun and glamorous this holiday season!
