It’s no surprise during the winter months our skin gets so incredibly DRY. In fact, last night I was just complaining to my friend about how dry my skin is, how uncomfortable I feel and what I can do about it. That’s when it hit me, I really need to write a post all about this topic because I’m sure I’m not alone.
Fall/winter is the perfect time to repair damage from the summer months and reboot your skincare routine with a few simple tips. Here are a few I learned from Dove Dematologist, Dr. Alicia Barba.
Invest in a hydrating cleanser: Dry skin is more than just annoying and uncomfortable, it can lead to serious skin problems such as worsening of eczema, psoriasis and can be a major cause of winter itch. Use a hydrating cleanser and make sure to moisturize the skin after cleansing or gently exfoliating. I’ve talked about using a hydrating cleanser MANY times in the past so this is something I completely agree with.
Care for your underarms: Underarm skin is sensitive and an area that shouldn’t be overlooked. Textures and fabrics in sweaters, undergarments and t-shirts can irritate the skin. Underneath all those layers, you’ll need a product that keeps you hydrated and protected. Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant is formulated with moisturizers to help alleviate irritation and leave you with softer and smoother underarms. It provides 48-hour odor and wetness protection plus the added skin care benefits of NutriumMoisture (which is comprised of ingredients known to moisturize the skin). Total win-win!
Get into a bedtime routine: Bedtime is the best time to hydrate your skin. If you’re looking to decrease collagen breakdown, you might want to consider these three quick steps before hitting the hay: 1. Wash your face. 2. Apply a retinol. 3. Moisturize.
Sunscreen for all seasons: Pack away the bikinis and sarongs, but keep the sunscreen right next to your daily moisturizer. Consider switching to a moisturizing sunscreen, a bit richer than your summer product. Harmful UV rays don’t take a break for cold weather. Even if you’re bundled up, sunscreen is a must for your face, and any other skin that’s not covered up.
At the end of the day, I love to workout, feel good and take care of myself but sometimes there are a few tweaks we need to make in our daily routines to ensure our body and skin is feeling just right. Hopefully these few tips helped you go from dry to moisturized this winter season!

You know what I like to do ,while I’m still naked and come out of the shower. 😋.put coconut oil on all over & it removes the need for drying. I’m finding drying can’t be good for your skin, not immediately because something you spend such an amount of time on doesn’t happen like that. Just a good observation
I love you

Thank you for the great advice! I live in Michigan and the winters are awful on our skin! Dry, flaky skin is the worst! Going to try applying my moisturizer at night as well! Take care <3
