When it comes to my hair journey, staying on the right path to healthy hair can sometimes be discouraging which is why I am usually always setting hair goals for myself. Sound weird? Well, I swear it’s not. One of the most asked questions I get on a regular basis is about my hair and although I sometimes have help from the magic of extensions, I’m very particular when it comes to caring for my natural hair as well. Setting realistic hair goals, both for your hair and for life is honestly how I stay on track and see results.
STEP 1: ASSESS
The first thing you have to do when setting hair goals is assess your hair. With the seasons always changing throughout the year this is something I do very often. Is your hair drier than normal? Breaking? What isn’t working? This helps to familiarize yourself with what works, what to get rid of and so on. When you do this you can figure out if you’re looking more for length, moisture, breakage help etc..
STEP 2: BE REALISTIC
I love how ambitious some of us are and think our hair can grow like weeds but lets be realistic. It’s important to set goals that are very much attainable. If you know that your hair grows about half an inch a month, 12 inches of hair growth by December 2016 may not be realistic. You must also account for the normal wear and tear of your hair, frequent trims, and those times where you just may not be so good to your hair (it happens!). Set realistic goals that fit your lifestyle.
STEP 3: PLAN
Think, how are you going to make your goals happen? Decide what it is you are going to do to your hair daily, weekly and monthly to ensure that you are living up to those expectations that you want. You’re going to have to take a look at your lifestyle and find products that fit exactly what you are looking for to be successful. I was actually recently introduced to Function of Beauty.
Function of Beauty is a personalized shampoo and conditioner company. The bottle of shampoo and conditioner that you get from them is created just for you and your hair goals. You just enter in a few details about your hair type and what kind of outcome you would like and they do the rest! The reason why I’m loving the brand so much is because I can adjust my shampoo/conditioner to meet my goals throughout the year. After using the duo, it did everything I wanted. It didn’t weigh tit down, kept my frizziness away and felt a lot stronger.
STEP 4: BE CONSISTENT
One of the reasons why we don’t keep our goals is because we don’t just do it! You’ve written the goal down, now make it happen! Take action! Start doing the things you said you were going to do to reach your goal and stay consistent. With your Function of Beauty personalized shampoo and conditioner it will help you stick to your goals a lot easier. Remember to take proactive steps to make your goals a reality.
STEP 5: RE-VISIT
Re-visit your goals throughout the year – it will help you stay consistent with your regimen so you remain on track. Remember with Function of Beauty there are so many ways to customize regardless of changes to your hair throughout the year etc.. They never have any toxins, harmful chemicals, no sulfates and no paragons. Plus, shipping and returns are always free so you can re-order throughout the year without guilt!!
