Learning How to Accessorize

To me, there’s nothing that makes an outfit better than tons of accessories. Honestly, you can take the most boring and basic outfit like a jean and white tee, start adding jewelry, cool sunglasses and a hat and voila, you instantly have an elevated look. It actually took me quite a while to get the hang of learning how to accessorize. To be honest, I feel like it’s one of those things you have to remind yourself to do and then eventually it will become second nature.

I’ll be honest, sometimes I’ll put on and outfit and just feel so “blah,” if that makes sense. Then I’ll think to myself, “what the hell is missing here?” At that moment a lightbulb usually goes off and I realize I should start adding accessories to the look and see if I feel different. Nine times out of ten, it’s exactly what I needed.

For me, I usually never go a day without some kind of jewelry. This for me is a very natural thing. When it comes to hair accessories and hats however, I don’t always think about it so it’s something I need consciously remind myself about. Wanted to show you with today’s look how accessories can literally completely change an outfit.

If you think about it and take away everything I’ve paired with the look, it’s basically skinny jeans and a shawl over a white tank. Alone, this wouldn’t be an awful look but there’s something more fun about adding accessories to it. I added tons of jewelry including my signature “go-to” hoop earrings, some fun colorful blush-toned sunglasses and a wide brim hat. Not only this but if you take a look at my bag choice (backpack) I’ve also accessorized my bag with a fun bag tag and even personalized pins to make it that much more fun!

In my opinion there can never be too much as long as it is done with taste and you think about the look you are going for. Plus always remember a hat is the PERFECT accessory for those bad hair days! Shoot, did I just give away my secret? 😉
