How to Wear the Denim on Denim Trend

The Denim on denim trend is one that I never thought would come back into style, nor did I ever think I would sport but as a San Diego style blogger I knew I had to pull out those denims and try the trend out and boy am I happy I did! So what is the secret to pulling off this denim on denim trend?

In my opinion, the secret is balance. It’s about knowing your body, and flattering your shape. When wearing denim on denim, lighter shades of denim draw attention to the body areas they cover, while darker washes create a slimming effect. To be honest this denim on denim trend is really attainable for anyone.

So one thing we shouldn’t do when wearing the denim on denim look is picking denim that is the same weight and wash. As you can see from today’s look, I’m wearing a lightweight and lighter colored denim top and a heavier darker color denim pants to balance it out. Another thing is you don’t want to accessorize too much with busy pieces. You want to keep it relatively simple and keep the focus on the denim.

For a casual look, try mixing light distressed denim shorts with a medium wash, over-sized, denim shirt and a great pair of motorcycle boots. A denim blazer and trouser-cut jeans are perfect for the office. If you want to look chic and sophisticated, accessorize with a sexy, slinky heel. Honestly there are so many ways you can wearing the denim on denim trend, I highly doubt you’ll go wrong!
