My Everyday Makeup Essentials

I get asked a lot what my everyday makeup essentials are and what I use regularly so today I wanted to round up my absolute must haves when it comes to makeup items. Although I have a TON more I wanted to share a few of them with you guys and talk about them here and how I use them. As if you guys couldn’t tell, my makeup is relatively simple, I don’t usually go too glam with it but that’s what I like.

Less to me is more, but that doesn’t mean I don’t like to play around a little.

I thought I could do this every once in a while an just talk about my favorite makeup and/or hair items (if you guys are interested) and see what y’all think! I tried to narrow the below down to what are my ESSENTIALS for everyday use so to be honest I could use all of these in about 5 minutes if I really wanted to. That’s how pro I’ve become with them, haha! Okay — lets get to it.

Laura Mercier Silk Creme Oil Free Photo Edition Foundation – Okay, I LOVE this foundation. I discovered it about a year or two ago actually when I was working on a project with Laura Mercier and I fell in love. I had never really tried too many Laura Mercier products until this one and once I used this I was literally HOOKED. I started using everything Laura Mercier and it’s all just as amazing as the next. This foundation is kind of like my “going out” foundation, if that makes sense. I use this one for special occasions or when I want to look REALLY good. Ok that sounds silly cuz don’t we always want to look really good? haha! But seriously, we are girls and we all like to savor our amazing products for those special moments so hey — this one is that! I love it so much I’ve actually stocked up and have an extra bottle in my drawer for when my current one runs out. A little much? Nah… The key to this foundation is to use a setting powder after because it can be a little shiny when you first apply it but don’t let it discourage you! Just a little bit of a setting powder and voila! You’ll be hooked!

MAC Powder Blushes – True life I am a blush ADDICT. You know how some people say they can’t go without mascara or lipstick?? Well, I literally cannot go without blush. I feel totally naked if I am not wearing blush. Call me crazy but anyone who doesn’t wear blush needs to immediately — I swear it will change your life! Although I have an insane collection of blushes from many brands, I have to say some of my favorite colors come from MAC and in particular my absolute all time favorite color is MAC – Margin. It is the most stunning peachy-pink color with a sheen/shimmer that makes the skin glow like you couldn’t even imagine. Honestly, every time I wear this blush I have people ask me what blush it is and where I got it. I always feel guilty because I hardly use any of my other blushes so I try to try others but always find myself coming back to Margin. It’s an obsession — honestly.

MAC Lip Liner Pencils – There was a time when I used to not line my lips and let me tell you — what a difference lining your lips makes! I now line my lips with virtually everything — even lip glosses! It is hard to find really good lip liners these days but among my favorites right now are by MAC as well. They come off really easily on the lips and sharpen like a regular pencil so they last a long time.

Laura Mercier Illuminator – I have a think with highlighters/illuminators. I apply these above my cheekbones, tip of my nose and cupids bow virtually every day. It adds a bit of a dewy look to the skin (which I personally love) and isn’t an overwhelming amount of shimmer. You can also apply it underneath your eyebrow area to make it stand out a bit. This one is especially one of my newest favorites.

MAC Cremesheen Lipsticks – Although I have hundreds of lipsticks I love, I have to mention MAC Cremesheen lipsticks are among some of my favorites. They glide on for a smooth and shiny look almost as if to give you a bit of a glossy look without the gloss, if that makes sense. I don’t LOVE matte lipsticks for everyday so I usually tend to go for the glossier type of lipsticks since I feel they suit me a bit better for everyday wear.

bareMinerals BARESKIN Concealer – I apply concealer under my eyes and on any blemishes daily. Nuff said.

Maybelline the Falsies Mascara – By far the BEST drugstore mascara I have found to date. Make my lashes look like fake eyelashes! I haven’t found another drugstore mascara that is able to replicate it the way that this one does and it is only about $8!
