I love makeup. Maybe a little too much at times although if you guys have been following me for some time, it’s not really that I wear too much makeup but I still have an obsession with all products and playing around!
It could be from my background as an Esthetician as well. We actually had to train in applying makeup as well which is a fun fact a lot of people don’t know! Regardless, if you guys have watched my IG stories, then you probably know I have a HUGE makeup collection. At times it can be viewed as a little ridiculous BUT keep in mind this is my job and I love reviewing new products with all of you so I can share them. So today I wanted to round up some of my favorite makeup products to date. This will be products I use on the regular and later on I’ll do a different post on other makeup products I use for special occasions etc..
So lets get to it.
FOUNDATION:
A lot of people ask me about foundation regularly. I have been loyal to a few brands in particular because I absolutely LOVE to way they look and feel on my skin.
NO. 1: Laura Mercier Silk Creme Moisturizing Photo Edition Foundation: This foundation has been my ride or die for YEARS. I wish I could tell you guys how I discovered it but once I did, I was hooked. I will mention one thing — I have very dry skin so I chose the moisturizing version of this foundation however, if you are on the oily side you can do the oil free version here. This is such a great foundation, goes on smooth and stays in place. I will say it feels a bit heavier but I don’t use a lot and I always set it with a setting powder.
NO. 2: Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Foundation: This is another Laura Mercier foundation I love. This one feels a bit lighter than the one above and it stays on SUPER long. It goes on smooth, feels lightweight and applies evenly. It has buildable coverage and is non irritating.
NO. 3: Maybelline Dream Cushion Fresh Face Liquid Foundation: This seems like a super random one to add in here but I swear, I love it! This is the foundation I use when I’m just heading out quick, running errands etc.. The other two (above) are more of my like “going out” foundations if that makes sense. This Dream Cushion is super affordable, good for sensitive skin and I like that it is a sponge underneath that holds the liquid foundation rather than having to pour it out of a bottle. It comes with an applicator but I actually use a foundation brush to apply it or a beauty blender. I also like that you can dab it on lightly and build the coverage. Very good for someone who is a bit more low maintenance with their makeup and wants something affordable.
CONCEALER:
NO. 1: Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer: Ok this is going to sound like another random one but I swear it’s been my favorite for YEARS. I’ve talked about it time & time again and I don’t actually know what I love most about this but it just WORKS for me. Like I said, I’m not one to cake on my makeup — I like easy products that do the trick and this is one. After I apply my foundation I apply this under my eyes and on any blemishes/dark spots I may have then use my beauty blender to blend it in. There’s something I love about this because it is super lightweight. I’m not a huge fan of thick heavy concealers and this is definitely not that. I also use the shade medium and it matches me PERFECTLY. Plus you really can’t beat the price. BTW – this is a beauty blogger fav!
NO. 2: Laura Mercier Secret Concealer: This is another Laura Mercier product I use a ton when I’m going out and for special occasions. It’s a bit heavier than the above one but it works very well. I apply it with a concealer brush and blend it in.
SETTING POWDER:
NO. 1: Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder: Legit, the holy grail of setting powders. This stuff is AMAZING. FYI – I know it looks like I’m picking a lot of Laura Mercier products but I swear to you this is not sponsored I just absolutely am OBSESSED with their makeup! So you know I’m telling ya’ll the truth! I apply this with a large kabuki brush to set my makeup and you will DIE over it I swear!
NO. 2: bareSkin Perfecting Veil: I use this veil to set my foundation and use as a touch up throughout the day and it’s great. This actually used to be my go-to before I got hooked on the above one but I still LOVE it. I prefer to travel with this one since it is a pressed powder instead of loose and there are less chances of me having an accident. It applies very sheer which is why I love it and doesn’t look like you’re piling the makeup on.
BLUSH:
NO. 1: MAC Powder Blush: Hate to say it but I’m a die hard MAC Blush addict. I have SO many colors and never find anything that I love as much as their blushes. I have to also say I’m a huge blush person — wear it just about everyday. In fact, I’d probably pick blush over mascara or lipstick if I had to. My favorite shade? Margin.
HIGHLIGHTER/ILLUMINATOR:
NO. 1: Laura Mercier Face Illuminator: These illuminators are extremely pigmented and come in SO many gorgeous shades that fit a wide range of skin tones. My favorite shade is indiscretion. A little goes a long way and this highlighter is sheer and creamy perfection.
NO. 2: MAC Skinfinish Powders: These skin finishes are just that — a subtle finish with a pearlescent glow. You can choose from six different pearls all of which are equipped with the finest shimmer to make you glow to perfection.
LIPSTICKS/GLOSS:
NO. 1. MAC Lipstick. I’ve used MAC Lipsticks for years and still do to this day. It goes on smoothly and you can’t even feel it on. They have amazing pigments and incredible range of shades as well. It really impossible to find just one that you love.
NO. 2. NARS Lip Gloss: NARS makes some of my absolute favorite colored lip glosses to date. They are amazing and I always get compliments whenever I wear them!
NO. 3. L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Lipstick: I love these for an amazing set of drugstore lipsticks. They glide on smooth and last long!
