A question I get asked a lot is about styling short hair! If you guys have been following me for a while then you know I go between long and short hair (with the help of extensions, of course) but recently I decided I was kind of over extension life so I took everything out and to be honest, I’m loving my natural short hair more than ever before! Not sure I will ever go back to long again to be honest but I guess, never say never.
Today I decided to show you guys how I style my short hair in two very simple ways (wavy & straight) but honestly, short hair can be a bit tricky to get used to so I wanted to write up my tips!
First up, loose (wavy) curls.
When it comes to short hair, the goal for me is not to necessarily get “curly” hair. What I want when I create waves is just to add texture and movement to the hair and give a little extra volume. For this kind of look, I use a curling iron with a clamp (I think the ones with clamps work way better on short hair). I have been using my T3 1″ Curling Iron to get this look.
1 – Make sure hair is fully dry.
2 – If working with freshly washed hair, add a bit of dry shampoo to give the hair a little more texture.
3 – When curling my hair, I take small sections and curl away from my face. I focus on the root of the hair and leave the ends out. This gives more of tousled look rather than perfect curls.
4 – When finished, add a bit of texturizing spray and work hands through the hair to break up any curls. That is it!
Now, moving onto straight hair..
I’ll be honest this is pretty much my regular hairstyle on a daily basis. For me, it’s just so easy and fast I can literally blow dry and have my hair looking good in about 10 minutes tops. Here’s how:
1 – Wash hair and towel dry.
2 – I add a volumizing product to my wet hair since I have very fine hair.
3 – I next grab my blowdryer (I use this T3 blowdryer) and my first step is to blowdry my bangs forward so that I don’t get any weird kinks in the front. I really like when the front lays flat which is why I do this.
4 – Flip head over and blowdry hair upside down to give a little extra volume. Do this until hair is about 90% dry.
5 – Lastly I separate hair into two sections and using a round brush, I blowdry my hair while making sure to curl my ends in towards my face. Voila!
Do you guys have any tips/tricks to styling short hair?! Let me know!

I have this hair length, but I struggle with keeping my ends from flipping out at the shoulders. Do you have that problem?
