One question I get asked a lot is about what kind of programs, tools and apps I use. I actually love this question because the way I actually discover a ton of apps I grow to use continuously is often by asking other people what they use as well and I’m all for sharing! I mean, just because we share what tools we use doesn’t mean we are all going to use them exactly the same, right?! So on that topic here are 10 apps every blogger needs in my opinion:
Okay so I’m actually guilty to say I used to use Snug for YEARS. But, since I updated the app about 2 weeks ago, it crashed and I’ve never been able to use it again so hey, the award now goes to.. Planoly. Most bloggers are super anal about their instagram feeds — I happen to not be one of them. Haha! What I will say however is I like to plan out my content ahead of time so I don’t go crazy and spend all day everyday sitting on my phone thinking about it. Planoly is a great app for planning and managing your posts. If you are SUPER into your instagram aesthetic then you can totally work on that as well. I haven’t actually played around with the schedule function but I heard it’s really helpful.
When it comes to photo editing I am very picky and like a few. Snapseed is one of my favorites. It is a great one to quickly fix an image and make it look better with a little brightness or contrast fix. It can make any iPhone photo instantly better.
Lightroom is another great app to use for photo editing. To be honest it’s my favorite because it’s the only computer program I use for editing.
To be honest, I used to love VSCO a lot more than I do now. However, it is probably one of the most classic apps to play around with your pictures. You can enhance your pictures with some fun filters and if you really have no clue how to edit and get them to instagram in no time.
I mean who doesn’t have Facetune. If any blogger tells you they don’t use it, they are lying, trust me. This one works like magic, but beware – never overuse it! I only use Facetune to enhance a little, whiten something or hide a little spot. You never want to make you look unnatural or weird and trust me it’s extremely easy to do so – be careful!
If you don’t already use Canva, you need to start. Canva allows even the creatively challenged people to design a huge range of products from e-books and business cards to flyers and posters. I mainly use it for adding fun text to my images without manually having to make each picture fit each platform’s specific size. Makes my life way easier.
NOTES
Sounds silly because this is an app that actually comes with the phone but notes is actually an app the I use most often. I have a running list of blog post ideas, to do lists, reminders, and just random shit. It really is the most practical way to keep track of things for me.
As a blogger, I work with photographers and brands very often and I have found that dropbox is an easy way to send and receive images/files. It’s great because you an also organize your files into folders and download them directly as well as from anywhere you are in the world.
