Lately, all I’ve been seeing on Instagram and Blogs is so. damn. depressing.
I don’t know if anyone even agrees with me but all it’s been about lately has been how people are buying followers, people are having sponsored posts, why the numbers matter, why the numbers don’t matter and blah blah blah.
To be honest, who the F cares?
I mean, lets be honest — why is everyone getting so hung up on what other people are doing and just not focusing on what they are doing? If someone buys followers, so be it. If someone has less followers than you, so be it. If people are getting sponsored posts and they aren’t, SO BE IT.
Now, I know a lot of you won’t agree with me but blogging for me has always been a way to escape and just be me. I’ve always tried to steer clear of what “everyone was doing” and just stay in my lane. People may not like me, people may not like my outfits and people may write mean comments. Honestly, it doesn’t matter to me. It takes a lot more effort to be mean than to be nice so more power to those people, I just personally choose to be positive. Blogging improved my life so much that I can’t even imagine what I’d be doing otherwise.
I know that sounds so silly — a girl with her blog and somehow that improved life? Well, yea it definitely did. Like I’ve said a million times, I started blogging as not only a way to show my beauty and fashion tips but just have an outlet where I could be me and share my thoughts and feelings. If people had chosen to follow along, it was only a bonus in my eyes. Now, I’m so thankful for each and every one of you and for the positivity I’ve gotten with writing these “real” posts.
Before blogging it’s not that I hadn’t been secure with myself, it’s almost like I felt something was missing. It’s allowed me to find my personal style, be confident enough to take photos, speak to random people and be appreciative of every one around me. I’ve gotten to know people through email better than I know most people I’ve met in real life, finally realized what self employment is and how time consuming yet rewarding it is. I’ve made new friends from all over, even other countries and socialized more than I feel like I was ever capable of in the past. Most importantly I’ve created a space in which I’ve learned to be comfortable in my own skin and push others to feel the same. I love sharing everyday struggles with you all because trust me, social media is not what life is actually like all the time.
I choose to stay in my lane, be me and not look at what everyone else is doing. It’s not important. When you do something for you and don’t pay attention to everyone else that is when you succeed more – I truly believe that. So who cares how many followers people have and how they got them. Who cares how many likes you have and all that jazz. Create content that makes you happy and don’t spend every waking moment looking at the numbers and wondering how they got there. It’s honestly pointless and just gets into your head too much. Let people be them and as always I say,… YOU DO YOU!
