This is 31

Yep, it’s that day! August 6th and the day that I was born! Woohoo! Okay okay, in all reality, anyone who knows me knows that I actually don’t make a huge deal of my birthday. To me, I just love getting the “Happy Birthday” text or phone call from my favorite people in this world and I’m happy as a clam. I used to say birthdays were just “another day” until I got grilled to the bone about it from everyone that celebrates it as if it was their last day on earth. Don’t get me wrong, I get it and I’ve warmed up to it. I think I’ve always been more of an introverted person and I never want people to feel like they have to go out of their way for me. Is that strange? Who knows.

Over time I have realized however, that there are a couple reasons to be thankful for birthdays and to celebrate rather than just total “bypass” the holiday. Here are my top two:

  A YEAR OLDER, WISER:

I mean, ain’t that the truth! Whether you have had some hard days in your life or great days, one thing is for certain: Life lessons come from “Living and Learning.” It’s so important to use the things that you learn from to grow in every area of your life. Birthdays are a great moment to reflect on the things you’ve accomplished in the year and to make goals of what else you’d like to accomplish by the end of the year. This year I’m thankful for quite a few things..

ACKNOWLEDGING THE DAY YOU WERE BORN …..

Your birthday is your special day. I like to think about it as an opportunity to acknowledge that you are here on this earth for a purpose. This presents time to reflect on: What are you on this earth for? This reflection brings about a thankful heart that will make you grateful to see another year.

So with that being said, here’s to another year here on this beautiful earth. I’m blessed to live the life I do, to have my health and be surrounded by those that I love and who love me the most. 31 isn’t so bad after all!
