Leo Season is here and bam, just like that today I turn 34! Crazy to think it’s been another year around the sun but well, here we are. Every year I usually like to do some kind of reflection post although last year I never got around to it. I think with the world being turned upside-down, me being the most sick I’ve ever been in my life, getting my tonsils removed and going through a surgery (twice) kind of took it all out of me, haha. I honestly cannot believe I’m 34. To be honest, I don’t feel a day over 24 but somehow there’s no way to pause time I’ve gathered and the years just kind of keep flying by. I truly feel like a kid at heart, just with a little more money in my bank account.. which isn’t the worst thing.
With all that being said, I’m blessed to be here, healthy, happy and thriving and as I’m now in my mid-30s (gosh that’s depressing) here’s what I’ve learned in 34 years.
1. Don’t compare your beginning to someone else’s middle.
2. NEVER go to sleep with your makeup on. No matter how tired, or drunk you are. I promise you WILL regret it.
3. Call your parents and tell you you love them, as much as you can.
4. Spend time with them too, you might regret the days you didn’t.
5. There are VERY few things a good venting session can’t solve.
6. Credit card debt is your worst enemy. Never give in.
7. Chipped nails are never a good look. I’ve been there…
8. What others say about you has NOTHING to do with you and EVERYTHING to do with them.
9. Find your passion and strive to meet your goals every day.
10. Reward yourself, you deserve it.
11. Treat others the way you want to be treated.
12. On that note, Mom is/was always right.
13. Figuring out your wine of choice makes you realize you’re an adult.
14. Natural beauty tops any product. Took me a long time to realize this…
15. Go to the doctor, and dentist, and eye dr when you’re supposed to. Don’t put it off.
16. When the plane parks, for gods sake, don’t be that person who stands up immediately.
17. Life is too short for the good people.
18. There are better things to do than scroll through social media. As much as I’m grateful that this has given me my career I can honestly say I am so happy I didn’t grow up with it as a child.
19. The most important things in life cannot be bought.
20. But money makes life a lot easier.
21. Always go with your gut.
22. Being single is actually kinda fun. Don’t be so scared of it. Enjoy the season for what it is.
23. “Let go of what no longer serves you” is a motto to live by.
24. There’s no place like home.
25. Eye contact is major. Get into it.
26. If it hurts, don’t wear it. At some point the pain will show.
27. Never ever ever ever EVER ever ever take your shoes off in the club.
28. If you feel a deep need to take your shoes off in the club, walk your butt outside, get in an uber, and go home. Game over.
29. No one keeps secrets. Remember this when you’re telling people all your business.
30. Life is not fair. That fact is profoundly frustrating. My Mom taught me this and if you refer to #12, she’s always right.
31. Don’t wait for some dumb boy to give you closure. You give yourself closure. That’s real. Tie that mess right on up. Buy ice cream if necessary.
32. Never over-pluck your eyebrows.
33. Crawling into bed after you’ve changed the sheets is seriously underrated.
34. TBD.. more years to come.
