A very much requested post has been for me to show my makeup organization and beauty closet so today, I decided to do so! I recently completely organized and moved around all my makeup and condensed it into one smaller closet that way it was out of my office and less cluttered. I actually LOVE the way it turned out and now this little closet is off my master bathroom with easy access to everything I need as I’m getting ready.
In thinking about it, I know it sounds extremely excessive to have a whole closet/small room dedicated to my makeup/beauty items BUT in reality, with what I do for a living I do get a lot of products to try regularly and having a system in place where I can store and keep everything organized makes my life SO much easier!
I’ve lived here for about a year and half now and finally just NOW gained control of how to fix my space the way that makes the most sense for me. That leads me to my next point — don’t be in a rush to fix up a place as soon as you move in, sometimes it’s best to live in the space and decide how you can make it most functional for your needs.
So lets get to it…
My entire closet system is the Ikea PAX system which I have in every closet in my home and absolutely love it. I feel it is one of the most affordable yet customizable closet systems out there and I really like how it can be easily modified.
Fun fact: I actually spent a lot of last December making countless trips to Ikea and putting together/installing new drawers myself and although it was slightly challenging, it was also very satisfying!
I decided drawers were my best option for all the makeup that I have and I love how the PAX system has incredibly deep drawers so it makes stacking makeup products upright very easy (and saves a ton of space). I did two different types of drawers, ones with glass fronts and ones without just so I could display some of my favorite products in a few. Just note – glass drawers are a tad bit more expensive so I didn’t do a ton of them.
What I LOVE most about Ikea is they they also sell all kinds of different separators/dividers for you PAX drawers which is how I organized my makeup. I used the Komplement Boxes to separate out the deep drawers and then I used plastic dividers they have for the pull out trays I have to separate out some lip products I use regularly.
The majority of everything I have in this closet is all makeup but I do also have my jewelry on display here since it was just an easy space to use and easy to access. Of course I used my trusted label maker that I can’t get enough of to label what each and every drawer consists of so I never get confused and every makeup item has its own “home.”
On the shelves above, I decided to utilize this space by storing all “unused” and “in box” items that I have an overflow of. That way, when I run out of something or want to try something new I know exactly which bin to grab and everything is labeled neatly. These are the particular storage boxes I used because they were incredibly affordable and I needed a bunch to make sure I had enough storage space.
I love the way it turned out and how functional the space is. I know I have a ton of product and such but honestly, having a space that is incredibly organized and easy to access has really helped me see what I have and what I want to use. I also have a system in place for any giveaway products/items I want to donate.
If you guys are looking for a storage system, I highly recommend the PAX system! Not sponsored at all but truly just love the functionality of the system and all the accessories that go along with it!
