Although today’s photos don’t reflect this, I’m currently deep into a closet clean out this week. I have been wanting to do it for SO long but every time I stared into my closet I just got overwhelmed and didn’t even know where to start,… so I didn’t. Until now.
To be honest, I’ve really wanted to move more towards a minimalist approach lately. I used to want to have 200 pairs of shoes and a closet full of outfits but I started to realize how pointless that is and how I really don’t NEED that much of anything. So I’ve been slowly going through my clothes and asking myself if I really want/need it. Here’s how I’ve been navigating:
What to Keep:
I like to ask myself the following questions:
Does it make me feel good? Do I love the item? Is it in good shape? Have I worn it recently? If the answers are yes then they stay in the keep pile. If no, then I immediately get rid of it.
What to Toss:
The main question I ask myself when deciding what to toss is, does it fit right? I know that’s a frustrating question BUT our bodies change as we get older and unfortunately things you used to wear 3 years ago probably wont fit the same as they used to. If you are just holding onto it in hopes that one day it will work, get rid of it.
I know it’s a daunting task but at the end of it I always feel lighter and like I’ll actually wear the items I have in my closet as opposed to just staring at them everyday.
This little number was here to stay 🙂
