You guys know me, I’m always all about that REAL talk and I have to admit, lately I’ve been feeling in a FUNK to say the least. Who knows why but I do know there’s something called a Super Blue Blood Moon coming and I’m going to go ahead and blame it on that.
Sorry not sorry.
I mean, lets be honest — there are days we feel amazing and then there are days we feel a little out of it and I’m not one to pretend that life is just roses every single day. I have a lot of respect for people who can face this world with a bright smile and positive outlook every single day and for the most part I TRY to do so but there are days I just can’t. But you know what I’ve learned? It’s ok to be sad, frustrated and to even get a good cry in every now and then. But what’s dangerous is allowing the negativity of the world to totally take over your life.
As I was sitting in bed tonight I thought instead of feeling bad for myself I need to choose happiness and not let stupid things get to me. At the end of the day, happiness is a choice. If you are unhappy right now, most likely it’s because of the things you CHOOSE to think about and well, I’m guilty of that too. I know we all have the power to change that instantly so writing this is kind of like a therapeutic way for me to change my thoughts.
I’ve learned that happiness doesn’t always come easy, and that it takes work.
When everything is going well, being happy is simple. But when we’re facing challenges and uncertainty, it takes conscious effort not to fall in ”victim mode”. We constantly need to remind ourselves that we’re the creators of our own happiness. Agreed?
Another thing – have you ever stopped to think about the sheer number of thoughts that go through your head every day. Thousands and thousands of thoughts. All day, every day. Maybe it is the because of the fast-paced world we live in but it seems like we all struggle to slow our mind down. I’ll be honest, a lot of this thinking is unnecessary… and exhausting! I have started trying to get more into meditation and it’s been slightly helpful, although I feel like I need to be more consistent. I think a struggle I have had to deal with is that I am constantly trying to please everyone and I’m learning that ONE – you can’t please everyone and TWO – sometimes you just need to focus on yourself and be…selfish.
Long story short, the more you focus on happiness, the more yours will come. Going to take a deep breath and rest for the night and hopefully wake up totally refreshed. Just a little reminder that instagram and the blog is only a highlight real where people share their best moments but I feel its important to show the real side of things when it comes to this lil thing called LIFE as we all struggle with from time to time to figure out.

Love this look! That jacket is beyond amazing!! And this post came at such a perfect time! I feel like a lot of us are in weird place, a funk and you are so right happiness is definitely a choice and we have to change our perspective and simply choose happiness. Of course it’s easier said than done and this statement you made “I’ve learned that happiness doesn’t always come easy, and that it takes work.” is so very true! I started reading this book talking about mindfulness and taking a moment to breathe and meditate really helps and I am looking forward to doing more of that. Being present and choosing joy! As always love your posts!
