Don’t get me wrong, I love people, I really do. But there can be times when my energy feels sapped and I just need quieter, less stimulating environments. As an introvert I need alone time and air to breathe. I think sometimes people are too dependent on having to be around others all the time and never actually take time to themselves, which I truly believe could be a benefit to yourself.
I mean, when have you ever spent hours on a couch in your pj’s binge watching netflix only to realize just how much you needed that break? With that being said here are things to appreciate coming from someone who loves spending time alone:
1. A weekend in which you have no plans, no responsibilities, and nowhere at all to be, ranks as one of the best weekends you’ll ever have.
2. You know vegging out on the couch with your show to binge watch with some wine is way better than having to go to a club and rub up against sweaty and annoying strangers who keep touching you without your permission. I meannnnn…just saying.
3. If anyone that knew you were to describe you, one of the words they’d use to do so is: independent.
4. Your intuition is on point because you spend an insane amount of time alone and cultivating it.
5. While some people hate being single, it’s actually not so bad to be at the whim of your aloneness and this feeling is especially better if you live alone (trust me, I know) because you have so much time to do all the little things when nobody is around.
6. A full day by yourself makes you feel more you than anything at all. Is that weird?
7. People think that you’re a weirdo or a loner because you’re not always out doing something with other people. Why is that?
8. Being alone means there is absolutely zero judgment at all. Zero. None. Negative none.
At the end of the day whether introvert, extrovert, love being alone or prefer time with others – it’s all OK! We all have different personalities and preferences and it’s just important to listen to yourself and never feel pressure to be anything other than YOU.

My mom doesn’t understand how I’m comfortable sitting in a restaurant having lunch alone. She always asks “don’t you have friends?” I used to feel bad for being an introvert, but now I know it’s much better for me and everyone in my life if I have some alone time to decompress and get out of my head for a bit. Luckily, I married a fellow introvert 🙂 xo
