I received free product from Delta Faucet Company to write this post, but all opinions expressed are my own.
As you guys may know from following along on my Instagram and here on the blog I recently purchased a home and I have been doing a TON of renovations. If anyone knows me then they know I’m a big home design junkie and I love anything that has to do with buying, selling and redesigning homes. It’s always been a passion of mine and just something I’ve grown into more now than ever.
When looking to purchase my next home, I had a lot of specifics I was looking for and this home just fit the bill completely. I remember walking in for the first time and just completely falling in love with the home. Don’t get me wrong though, it was NOT a turn key home. Although it was in pretty good condition there were definitely things that I wanted to fix, update and redesign as I’m sure we all do when it comes to purchasing a new home. I always say, look for a home that has the potential to be everything you want but don’t expect it to be perfect right from the start.
One of my biggest challenges with the home (and the first thing I decided to change) when I purchased the home were the 2 bathrooms. First of all, it only had 2 bathrooms and while this is fine, I would have preferred 3 for a larger home this size. I realized down the road there is always the potential however to create an addition to the home and add a small bathroom (or powder room).
To make these two existing bathrooms as functional as possible I wanted to redesign them a bit, make them much more functional and add fixtures that fit my style. I will be sharing each bathroom separately with you guys beginning with my guest bathroom in today’s post.
To begin, let me tell you a bit about the old design of the guest bathroom. It used to have a large bathtub of some sort of plastic or fiberglass (not quite sure but it wasn’t the best quality) and I felt as though it look bulky and well, just ugly. I have always dreamed of the day that I would have beautiful large open tiled floor showers with seamless glass doors and beautiful fixtures. When I purchased this home, I knew I could make this dream a reality.
I know some people think I’m crazy for ripping out a tub, but I’m going to be honest, I never have been nor will I ever be a bath person. Trust me, I had 2 bathtubs in my old townhouse for about 5 years and don’t believe I took a bath in either one of them ONCE! Now I’m not going to sit here and say the whole process was a piece of cake — oh dear lord it was such a headache and it took SO damn long BUT the final product turned out amazing. I had the tub taken out, and used the same tile for the bathroom flooring for the shower pan and took the white ceramic tiles down all the way as well. I had a small corner bench added (which I love for shaving!) and I also added a small shower niche for placing products and such. The showerhead and fixtures were incredibly important for me as I wasn’t going to spend all this time, money and effort on a gorgeous shower and not put fixtures in that make a “wow” statement, if you know what I mean.
I have ALWAYS and I mean always been a fan of Delta Faucet so they were the first brand I thought of and ultimately went with for all the faucets, shower heads and fixtures in both bathrooms. For the guest bathroom I decided to stick with one collection – the Zura® collection – to keep everything consistent and sleek and I LOVE the way it turned out.
I’ll be honest, the shower head is really what got me in both bathrooms. I was searching day and night for shower heads that I felt would give the newly upgraded showers that extra bit of glam feel. I knew I wanted a type of rainfall shower feel and this one did exactly that with a bit of a twist. It has the H2Okinetic Shower technology which sculpts water into a unique wave pattern, forming a powerful drench spray and gives you the feeling of more water without using more water. I also LOVE that you can control volume and water temperature independently with two separate handles for more refined control of your shower experience!
The faucet was such an eye catching design that the moment I saw it I knew it would be perfect in this bathroom. It’s a very modern yet functional design, has smooth moving parts and is SO quiet when it’s operating. It really gives the space an elegance that I feel instantly upgraded the bathroom!
For the fixtures surrounding the bathroom I installed two of the 18″ Towel Bars, Robe Hooks (which are instantly one of my favorite features in the bathroom) and the tissue holder to tie everything in the bathroom together!
All in all I couldn’t be more thrilled with how my guest bathroom turned out and how the Delta Faucet fixtures instantly upgraded my space! Make sure to check out the entire Zura Collection here!
