As I’m on a kick to share things that are more personal to me here, I decided to address a few questions I get asked ALL the time:
“How did you start blogging?
“What made you start?”
“When did you begin to see success?”
I think there are a lot of us out there that want to shift careers or have a new hobby and not sure where to begin. I’m not meaning just blogging — this can apply to SO many people in all different aspects of life but I know, it can be scary. And I mean real scary. So hopefully my story gives you a little bit of that push to do what you want in life and make a change. Or hey, if you’re just curious and want to get to know me better then I’m all for it.
So lets get to it.
I started blogging 4 years ago — geez, has it really been that long?! As a Licensed Esthetician and working in the field at the time I became obsessed with all things beauty including skin care (obvi) and makeup. I feel like it’s kind of one of those things when you find out someone is a Doctor all the sudden you start asking them about every pain you’ve been feeling in your body LOL. This was also at a period when I was going out a lot and I would have girls come up to me all the time asking where I got my outfit, how I did my hair etc.. I’ve never been one of those girls who didn’t want to tell my “secrets” so I always shared. I later thought, “Why don’t I start a website and just share all my tips and tricks?” And so I did.
I got online and started researching how to start a blog and just full on went for it. I’m that kind of person when I have something I want to do and it pops into my head — I do it and I never half ass anything.
Well — looking back on some of my beginning posts I guess that statement might be a lie because DAMN WERE MY POSTS BAD!! Haha, but common with anything we begin in life it’s a learning experience and you grow from it. Regardless of the quality of my photos and such I fell in love with the blogging world and the blog community. I remember I would go to my everyday job and work then come home and stay up until 2am working on the blog. Not because I had to, because I WANTED to. And trust — at that time, I was getting no monetary return from it.
Long story short, it slowly started to grow and more people started following. God only knows how they would find me but I wasn’t complaining.
I started to see some success about 6 months to 1 year in. Granted, it was very minor but it was something! People always ask me this question but I think it’s important not to compare your success to other people. If it takes you longer then so be it! If you’re seeing success immediately, then kudos to you! I’ve always lived by the motto everything happens the way it’s supposed to happen. Success is not measured by other people, it’s what YOU see as success. I’m not getting Gucci handbags and hey, some girls are but I’m not comparing my success to that — If that makes sense.
Throughout this journey I’ve learned that when you truly love something and feel passionate about it there is not way you can fail. You will naturally work SO hard and you WILL achieve those dreams. The key is to never give up. I wanted to do this full time immediately when I started and about two years in I achieved that dream. Regardless of what it is you want in life, don’t ever give up and work hard!! It might be late ass nights and you might not get to go to that party everyone is going to BUT you will have achieved your dreams because of determination and HARD WORK.
Let me know if you guys have any other questions and what topics you’d like addressed on the blog in the future. I’m loving sharing these more personal stories/posts with all of you and reading all the comments/feedback!
XOXO

I Really have been loving your posts. Especially this one! I have been posting fashion and lifestyle content on my Instagram for about 2 years now, trying to get my WordPress site up. Because of funds I wasn’t able to hire a developer so for the past 7 months I’ve been busting my butt to learn everything I can. I haven’t seen the amount of growth I want just through Instagram, so I’m really hoping once I launch I’ll notice a huge difference. All that to say, do you have any tips as far as SEO and getting everything going? I Stay up late, work long hours, and do everything I can, but doing this for two years and not making money is really taking its toll. I would love any advices tricks, or ideas you have! My insta is @oliviacorin if you have time to look! 💕 You are truly an inspiration for me and are one of the people that keep me going. Thank you for being awesome and down to earth!!!
