We all have those days when you feel unmotivated and don’t ANYTHING. I find it happens to me a LOT during the holiday season (aka right now). Sometimes I’m just having a bad week and can’t seem to push myself to do any of what I need to get done. With that being said, here are some tips on how to motivate yourself on “off” days from time to time.
Take a deep breath
Take a breath and relax. Sometimes we get a bit overwhelmed by our surroundings and the work commitment. Take a stroll, listen to a great song, spend time with your dog, do anything that calms you down. Clear your mind and try to unburden yourself.
Get Dressed
As silly as this may sound, sometimes just getting dressed can make us feel more productive. It’s step one of the day, and can make a huge difference to your motivation levels. You’re more likely to get stuff done if you’re well prepared for the day. Although pajama days are nice, if you need to get stuff done just put on a cute outfit and guaranteed, you’ll feel way better!
Set Deadlines
If you are struggling to get out of the relaxation stage of the day then sit down and write a plan. I like to write down everything I want to get done in my day and there’s nothing that gives more satisfaction than being able to cross it off your list. I’ve also been considering getting a time cube which I’ve heard helps tremendously for some people!
Start Small
If you start the day off with a small task that doesn’t take long it will help you realize that you absolutely can complete the rest. Start off with a morning skin routine, or a short walk, even just brushing your teeth! Give yourself something easy to begin with to warm up to the heavier stuff.
Be Kind to Yourself
Don’t be too harsh on yourself ::cough cough:: This is one I need to learn from. Don’t compare your accomplishments with someone else’s. It always seems that the grass is greener on the other side. You are after all the master of your destiny, so you are responsible for your actions. There might be people who are better than you and many who might not be a good as you. All these don’t matter because all you need to be concerned is about how to give your best. Follow your own path. Ignore others and focus on yourself.
At the end of the day remember it is okay to feel off. But don’t let it take you down. It is okay to feel off. What are your thoughts on staying motivated on off days?
