When it comes to wearing jewelry, more is more in my book. I absolutely love layering jewelry and I’m here to give you a few little pointers on how to get that perfect layered look that appears so effortless.
layer in levels
The most important thing when wearing multiple necklaces is to vary the lengths. Try mixing shorter, finer chains with longer, thicker ones. You might find that doubling longer strands gives you just the effect you’re hoping to pull off.
add charms
It can be fun to pile on two or more necklaces or chains with small charms. An easy look to pull off is a shorter pendant with a longer graduated bead chain. Or stick to a theme, with the same or similar shapes hanging from chains of different lengths. I love the collection of charms available from quay here because they can be added to virtually any one of their chains for a completely different look and they are super easy to play around with.
mix metals
Experiment with a variety of chains of different link styles and lengths. You can opt to stay within the same color palette — like all rose gold or all silver — or go for a combo (like I have above).
outfit in mind
Whether it be a high neck, v-neck or scoop neck, always make sure to keep your neckline and pattern in mind. Make sure the necklaces lay right and your layered look does not compete with a busy pattern. On the flip side, remember you can instantly elevate a simple white t-shirt with a cute layered look so always think of what you are going for!
go bold
I’m not the type who says stick to dainty jewelry only. Go ahead and combine chunky pieces with others but just do it lightly. If you do this, just make sure to keep the rest of the pieces a little more subtle and dainty. To me, bold, chunky chains create an edgy look which I absolutely love!
