Happy Memorial Day everyone! I am so thankful for all the members of the military who have made so many sacrifices to give us the freedoms we have today. It’s days like today that really has me sit down and think how grateful I am for my life and opportunities I’ve had along the way. I think about how I am so lucky to live in a country that allows me to have a voice here and share whatever I want with all of you. I started this blog as a place to share my ideas, my thoughts and my passions with all of you. Not even in my wildest dreams did I imagine I’d one day be able to call this my full time career. I must say, one of the proudest moments of my life was being able 2 years after beginning this blog to quit my previous job and call this one my full time career. It truly was my “made it moment” in life and I will never forget it. To this day there is not one day I wake up and don’t thank the universe for it and I will continue to every single day moving forward.
If you guys remember in this post last year, I partnered with IKEA to share their latest message that really resonated with me: Make the Dream Yours –which is all about living your own version of the American Dream. To be honest, this message couldn’t be anything other than perfect for me and my situation and I’m sure many of you which is why I wanted to mention it again and especially today of all days just fit! Always remember you can achieve any goal and/or dream you want to in life and never let anything hold you back.

My made it moment was just the other day…I was juggling my oldest to get her switched off to my husband in order to make it to an interview nine months pregnant (a job for which I am qualified for now that I have my masters!). I truly felt like even if I didn’t get the job…I had made it.

My made it moment was making it through my first year of college and applying to Nursing School. My parents are originally from Ukraine and I know that this would not be possible where they are from. Having an education is truly part of my version of the American Dream. 🙌🏼

My “Made It Moment” was when I got my current job, which I genuinely enjoy. Whenever i think about the previous job I had, I’m grateful for the one I have now, where I am respected by my coworkers and am able to make a positive impact on society.

I think I have multiple “made it moments”: first job, first house, getting married, having kids and being a mom, graduating college, graduating with a masters, etc.
Sue Matariyeh says
My made it moments well scratch that, bc you can’t do anything without support of family, is when I finished my program at school, got married, had children and bought our first house😁 we will always have more moments and aim for something bigger, waiting for the kids to go to school full time so I can get that PhD degree. But for now I am happy with my current moments and of course we couldn’t of had these moments without our military that is keeping America safe.

My “Made It Moment” is when I graduated with my MBA and shortly after received a job promotion with my career field. It goes to show hard work pays off and to never give up for what you want. 🙂 Awesome post. I love your blog!

My moment was sometime before getting married and talking with my then fiance about the future and kids and I shared my dream to be a stay at home mom and then his affirmation of wanting just that in a wife. And now being a stay at home mom, I absolutely love it!

My “made it moment” was when I became an Aunt. Yes, I have career successes…but that is not what is important to me. My made it moment resides on the personal spectrum. The love you have never known to exist before having nieces and nephews (or kids of your own!) really catapults you to another level. I feel so whole!

My #madeitmoment was definitely when I got a full ride to college in the U.S. without which I wouldn’t have been able to go at all, having grown up in Pakistan. I’ve been here five years and it’s been a wonderful time!

My made it moment was when I was accepted into pharmacy school. Its very competitive and I always doubted myself thinking I wasn’t smart enough, that there are so many other applicants that could take my spot. Getting accepted made me realize that of course there are people smarter than me, but my hard work, studying, and dedication paid off. I can say that I’ve become more confident in my abilities, stopped doubting myself so much, and I’m more open to taking risks!
oliamajd says
Yay!! Congratulations! Absolutely taking risks is always scary but totally worth it in the end!

I have beaten 2 cancers (breast and colon cancer). I’ve been cancer-free for several years. Quite frankly, every day feels like a “Made It” moment! But what really clinched it for me was a few years after my 2nd diagnosis, the hospital that treated me did an ad campaign, using me to promote the hospital because of my success story. I was on 2 billboards, several magazine and newspapers and on YouTube with a video testimonial. I feel so blessed!

I have a few potential made it moments, I’ve based the bar to become an attorney, a few degrees under my belt, but the most defining Made It Moment for me was the day my one year old son turned to be and gave me a hug and a kiss for the first time a few months ago (he’s one and my first). In that moment I knew that this little boy with all his love was my greatest achievement.

My ‘Made It Moment’ was watching my youngest child graduate high school with high academic honors and go play NCAA baseball at college. This meant a lot, as he diagnosed with apraxia & ataxia (speech & motor disorders) as a young child. After years of speech & occupational therapy, he shattered all expectations. And made me proud to have done my job as his mom!
Elizabeth W says
I’d say so far it would be getting into graduate school!

My ‘Made It Moment’ was when I received the promotion I had been chasing for several years. Only to realize that it wasn’t that great. It didn’t make me happy, sure it was a lot more money but it’s not about the money. Then after a lot of soul searching I decided to change paths and chase a new dream. My dream was to be a stay at home mom and volunteer at the local library. I love to read and wanted to share that with kids! I still love story time! There is nothing better!

My Made It Moment began a year ago when I decided to change mine and my family’s lifestyle. The things we eat, the way we live, and making traveling a priority. So many amazing places to see and visit. Live your life to the fullest!

My made it moment was when I held my very first grandchild. Being an immigrant, I had to work hard to provide my children with an amazing life in this incredible country. The first time I held my grandchild I realized that I had truly made it. I have raised my kids to be spectacular adults and now I am being rewarded with grandchildren! The feeling is incredible! I know now that I have made it and have everything I need in life!

My made it moment was when I finally looked in the mirror and didn’t have anything negative to say about myself. After struggling with eating disorders and lack of self confidence and self respect for years, I was finally able to find self love. In that moment, I truly embraced all of my imperfections and realized that I am enough. I realized that I made it through all of the negativity and self hate and found my way to the top of self love and self confidence!
