Since the whole Covid-19 (or Coronavirus) outbreak erupted, it’s taken a HUGE toll on our lives. Many of us, even. those who have not been infected by the virus have chosen to self isolate or quarantine ourselves in our home and well,.. it’s challenging for a lot of us.
It’s basically halted the world, stopped all travel and made us all realize what real isolation is like. That can create anxiety, depression and a kind of uncertainty we haven’t been used to so I wanted to write up a post to just give you guys light and help you survive the next few weeks ahead and hopefully it will give you guys a little positivity!
Stay close to your normal routine
Try and maintain some sort of structure from the pre-quarantine days. As you start working from home, it could be tempting to fall into a more lethargic lifestyle, which could lead to negative thinking. Wake up and go to bed around the same time, eat meals, shower, adapt your exercise regimen, and get out of your PJ’s. Do laundry as you normally would, do your dishes regularly. Make a list – check off tasks. Not only will sticking to your normal routine keep you active and less likely to spiral, it will be easier to readjust to the outside world when it’s time to get back to work.
Refrain from the “I am stuck inside” mentality to the “I can finally focus on myself and my home.”
Think of this period as a time to focus your attention to the things you’ve always said you wanted to do but never had the time to get to. Doing one productive thing per day can lead to a more positive attitude. Set your sights on long-avoided tasks, reorganize, or create something you’ve always wanted to. Approaching this time with a mindset of feeling trapped or stuck will only stress you out more. This is your chance to slow down and focus on yourself.
A chaotic home can lead to a chaotic mind
With all the uncertainly happening outside your home, keep the inside organized, predictable and clean. Try not to eat in bed or work on the sofa- just as before, eat at the kitchen table and work at your desk. Loosening these boundaries just muddles your routine and can make the day feel very long. Additionally, a cluttered home can cause you to become uneasy and claustrophobic of your environment- so keep it tidy. Also, don’t forget to sanitize — just sayin…
Learning a new skill will help you feel more fulfilled.
During this time, I’ve actually been forcing myself to learn new skills whether big or small! I’ve been researching skills on YouTube, DIY projects and things I’ve been meaning to get to for the longest time and it feels SO good! If you can come out of this with a new skill or two, you’ll feel better than ever and quarantine wont even feel so bad!
Keep the Big Picture in Mind.
The coronavirus is wreaking havoc, hurting so many people and bringing the biggest countries in the world to their knees. We should all remember how many amazing things we have going for us. Just consider it for a moment how good life is: If you’re reading this, you have electricity and most likely clean water and food. If someone shared this link with you it means that people care about you and the people you’ll share this link with are people you care about too. Remember how blessed you are and this is only a temporary struggle. We will all get through this alive and well. A few months out of a persons life to sacrifice for a greater good is nothing in the big picture – remember that.
