Hey guys!! Today I’m super excited because I’m going to be sharing with you all the details from one of my recent trips you probably saw on my Instagram to San Francisco with the Biossance team! I don’t even know if my words are going to do the trip justice but I’m definitely going to try.
So let me give you guys a bit of a background here…
I have been obsessed with Biossance for a while now — in fact, as I’m writing this in bed my face is slathered in their 100% Squalane Oil so I’m not messing around one bit. If you guys aren’t familiar with the brand, Biossance is a plant derived, non-toxic and sustainably sourced Squalane-based skin care company. The brand blacklisted over 2000 ingredients that are potentially harmful which I’d say is pretty impressive. Biossance is a biotech-backed skincare. It started inside Berkeley labs where they were developing patented technology to create an accessible cure for malaria. And well, if you are working to create something like that, then you definitely are doing something right.
Like I said, they are known for their squalane based products. I know that sounds like something foreign that you probably have never heard of, but in essence it is a mega-moisturizing molecule and the human body produces its own version of it. However as with age comes a decrease in the amount your body produces (SO SAD, right?!). Now the good news is that Biossance created a 100% plant-based squalane sustainably derived from sugarcane. It targets dryness and dullness and ever since discovering, I’ve been completely hooked.
With all that being said, it’s no surprise that when Biossance asked me to take a special trip to San Francisco to meet with the team and tour their headquarters and lab, I jumped at the opportunity. Listen — I was so motivated that I flew all the way from the Dominican Republic there!
That’s gotta say something, right?!
Merlot and I (yep, my little Yorkie) made the trip out there about a week ago and arrived to the most beautiful hotel in Berkeley called the Claremont Hotel & Spa. It was stunning from the moment I stepped into the hotel so I knew the trip was off to an amazing start. Because it was very late when I checked in, I immediately went to bed because I knew we had a full day of activities the following day.
The next day we began with a visit to the Biossance headquarters where we had breakfast, met with the Biossance team (who by the way are some of the most kind and generous people I’ve ever met) and then shortly after got personalized lab coats to tour their lab and see how the products are made. It was so eye opening to see the process from start to finish! We later had lunch and headed out for some more activities. We got a chance to mix our own essential oils which was a super fun activity and then we went into the city to visit Sephora where their products are sold. We got mini facials/makeovers just in time for a private dinner they had set up in the city as well. I have to say absolutely everything was thought out from start to finish and I couldn’t have been more impressed. By the way, did I mention the food was AH-MAZING?! Still dreaming of it…
Day 2 began with breakfast in bed and when I heard that it was like music to my ears. I literally cannot even tell you guys the last time I had breakfast in bed so it was such a treat. After breakfast we had a car pick us up and drive us out to Half Moon Bay which I had never been to before and I’ll be honest it may very well be one of the most beautiful places I’ve visited. First we made a little pit stop to a pumpkin patch which was so fun. For the remainder of the day they organized a stay for us at the Ritz Carlton at Half Moon Bay with one of the most incredible views I’ve ever seen. We had full body massages set up (hallelujah!) and makeovers as well! What was so nice is that we really just got the chance to enjoy our day, the company and relax. The night ended with an amazing dinner at sunset with a view that you could only dream of.
All in all, I have to tell you guys this was such an amazing trip and I feel like more than that, I got to become part of the Biossance family if that makes sense. Like I said, the whole Biossance team was so kind and generous and just made everyone feel at home. I will also say one thing — they welcomed Merlot as if he was their own! Merlot had been traveling with me previously and although I usually don’t take him along to these types of events, I really had no choice because he was with me prior. I originally was worried of him being in the hotel the whole trip but the Biossance team let him be part of the trip and Merlot became the little Mascot. It may sound silly but seeing the way they welcomed him just filled my heart with even more joy.
Words cannot express how grateful I am to have been given this opportunity with Biossance. There’s something about falling in love with a brand/product that can make you happy but when you meet the people behind it and the team that works everyday it elevates that love for the brand to another level.
I highly recommend you guys check out their amazing line of products – you will seriously not be disappointed. My obvious favorite is the 100% Squalane Oil (it’s literally heaven in liquid form and I slather my face & neck with it nightly) but also the Squalane + Peptide Eye Gel which helps with dark circles and puffiness. I just love because it moisturizes well but still feels so lightweight! You can also check out their other amazing products here!
Let me know if you guys have any questions about any of their products and I’ll make sure to get back to you ASAP! You guys are going to love them!
Love,
Olia… and Merlot
