One of my favorite things to do when I’m feeling extra courageous every few months – go through my closet and revisit items I love and items I could live without. This always helps me remember what I have before I actually go and purchase new items and has me realizing what I reach for most often as well. With that being said, there are definitely items that I feel are worth splurging on and items that are trendy and easily “toss-able” so I thought I’d run through some in case you guys are going through your own Spring Cleaning these days.
SPLURGE: LEATHER JACKET
The look and feel of a leather jacket can instantly take any outfit to a whole new level. When splurging on a leather jacket, avoid styles that are too trendy (i.e. with lots of fringe or buckles,) as these may become dated and lessen the versatility of the jacket.
SPLURGE: BLAZER
Boy do I love a good blazer! You seriously can’t go wrong with splurging on a well-tailored blazer. A fitted, long sleeve blazer can elevate any look by adding a bit of polish to your outfit. I would opt for a neutral colored blazer like beige or black so it stands the test of time and goes with any outfit.
SAVE: JEANS
These days, there are so many styles and washes to choose from that it’s more than likely you’re going to want to own way more than just one pair of jeans in your wardrobe. Therefore, the cost of investing in multiple pairs of quality jeans far outweighs the value in the long run. Plus, with the ever changing trend in jean styles, I always say save on jeans since you’re not sure what the next “in look” will be.
SAVE: PAJAMAS
Your money can go way further by investing in pieces of your wardrobe that people will actually see. There are tons of cute pajama styles available on amazon for killer deals. Worst case? Nothing beats an oversized tee for bed!
SPLURGE: HANDBAG
Ok, this is not to say to go out and buy a designer handbag every chance you get. I will say however, I started a thing a few years back that I would stop buying cheap handbags and invest in one quality designer bag once every couple years and boy that has made ALL THE DIFFERENCE. My favorite is my prized Chanel bag although that was also my most expensive of them all but I know it will be with me for the rest of my life.
SAVE: BASICS
Any basics like white tees and tanks are an absolutely joke to pay $60 for. Have you ever heard of a good ol brand called Hanes? Nuff said…
