With the start of a new year, I have been thinking,… a lot. I am always a pretty motivated person but this year something has gotten into me and I just want to take advantage of where I am in life right now. It had me thinking that sometimes we hold ourselves back from things because of uncertainty or just plain being scared.
Fun fact about me that some of you may already know. I originally got my degree in Accounting and worked as an Accountant for two years until realizing it wasn’t what I wanted to do with my life. I then left the comfort of a steady, salaried paycheck to go back to school and get my license as an Esthetician. From there I later started my blog, and well here I am today. Moral of the story is had I not taken the chance and gone for something different, I would not be where I am today.
Here are some reasons why you should never be afraid to try something new and I hope it encourages you to start this year off on the right foot.
Never Have Regrets
How many times have you said no to something and then immediately after wished you would have just said yes? I’ll be honest, I have, and plenty of times. It’s never a fun feeling to watch other people doing and excelling at things you were too afraid to try. The best way to not regret things you didn’t do is to actually do them!
You’ll Be a More Well-Rounded Person
The more things you try in life, the more you know about and the more dynamic you become. It’s just like traveling — the more you travel the more cultured you become. Kind of goes hand in hand. Life is all about learning, experiences and living your best life. Who doesn’t want to be the best version of themselves?
YOLO
Common — you only live ONCE. What do you have to lose? We all only have one shot at life so better make it worth it.
Get out of a Rut
I’ve been there plenty of times, in fact — I’m just getting out of a rut. No matter if it is a dead end job, a bad breakup or just feeling down and depressed. I’ve learned a great way to break you out of that rut is to just set goals and try something new. It will wake your brain up and help get your mind focused on everything else BUT what got you in that rut to begin with.
Helps You to See Value Around You
This is actually something I learned recently. Sometimes a little bit of perspective is all we need to gain a great appreciation and sense of value for the things around us. Things like everyday life, time with our family, friends, and interacting with new people can open you eyes up to something new and see that there’s so much good around us.

You are looking so glam chic in this elegant outfit! I’m loving your sweater and sunnies and yes, we should never be afraid to try something what we can’t stop thinking about or are interested to see how it could turn out… If we don’t face our fears and try something we will never know how great or successful it could be. 🙂
